Birds will use any area in and around your home as a potential nest site. While it does seem idyllic having nests in fascias and loft areas, health risks are quite high, therefore nest sites should be stopped prior to nesting, by bird proofing your home and installing chimney guards. Not only is there a nuisance factor by the birds, the nest carries mites and droppings which spread diseases such as psittacosis and ornithosis ( a potential fatal type of influenza in humans ). Food poisoning organisms can also be spread by birds.
